Make the dinner decision a shared job
Share meal choices across a household while keeping one clear plan, agreed diners and practical shopping decisions.

When one person chooses every dinner, the planning becomes a job of its own. Sharing that decision can start with a small, clear choice rather than a long group conversation.
Offer a manageable choice
Ask the household to choose between a few meals that fit the evening. Include what you already have time and ingredients for. A vote can surface preferences, while the person organising the meal confirms what is practical.
Give people different ways to help
Someone can suggest a meal, someone can check the cupboard, and someone can cook or help prepare. A playful “Tonight's chef” turn can be a prompt for involvement; it should not become a competition about eating or a way to override household permissions.
Keep one agreed plan
After the choice, put the meal and diners in the shared plan. Changes should be visible before shopping. If one person is out or a guest joins, update the meal before relying on its quantities.
Leave a flexible option
Even a shared plan needs room for a late finish or a changed mind. Agree on which slot is flexible and who will make the final call. A useful routine is a brief check before the shop, not a requirement to discuss dinner all day.
The aim is a meal people want to make together. Yomli's connected experience is being designed around that shared plan; the public planner is a simpler starting point for writing down the decisions.
